The SUNTECHMACH SHG1200 fabricates 710-1200mm PE, PP and PVDF elbows, equal tees, equal crosses and 45°/60° Y-pieces, and it is the model where the hydraulic system rather than the heating plate becomes the defining figure. The hydraulic unit rises to 7.5 KW, more than double the SHG800's 3 KW, because at this diameter the clamps have to hold and repeatedly correct a very heavy fitting through a long soak and an even longer cool — a weak or drifting clamp shows up directly as an oval or misaligned joint that cannot be re-worked. The heating plate is 62 KW and the total connected load is 73.5 KW, so this model is planned as a fixed cell with its own supply, a poured or steel foundation, and crane coverage. Working pressure remains in the 0-16 MPa class. The 0-300°C independent plate control, ±5°C surface deviation, pivoting plate and planer and the two-channel timer are unchanged from the rest of the range.
| THE PROBLEM | HOW WE SOLVED IT |
|---|---|
| 1100-1200mm fittings cannot be bought off the shelf in time | Fabricate 710-1200mm elbows, tees, crosses and Y-pieces in your own yard |
| A drifting clamp shows up as an oval, unusable large-diameter joint | 7.5 KW hydraulic unit — the strongest clamping system in the SHG range |
| Long cooling cycles let the clamp pressure relax | Accumulator-fed hydraulic circuit maintains pressure through the full cool |
| Handling 1200mm pipe and fittings needs real lifting capacity | Fixed-cell layout designed around crane coverage and a poured or steel foundation |
| Power has to be designed in, not plugged in | 73.5 KW total — plan the supply, cable runs and switchgear before delivery |
| Scrap on a 1200mm fitting is a serious cost | Parameter table and two-channel timer enforced together with a repeatable pressure cycle |
| Project specifications name the fitting standard | Fabricated fittings for systems specified to ISO 4427-3 / EN 12201-3 / EN 1555 / ISO 15494 |
Key Features
- 1. 7.5 KW Hydraulic Unit — More than double SHG800's 3 KW; the clamp holds and corrects a heavy fitting through the whole cycle.

- 3. 62 KW Heating Plate — Sized for the joint area at 1200mm so the face stays inside the ±5°C window.
- 4. 0-16 MPa Pressure Class — Repeatable interfacial pressure on very thick walls.
- 5. 73.5 KW Total Load — Planned fixed-cell installation with dedicated supply and switchgear.
- 6. 17000 kg Fixed Cell — Poured or steel foundation with full crane coverage for pipe and fitting handling.

Operation Guide
- Commission the cell first: confirm foundation level, switchgear rating, hydraulic circuit pressure hold and crane coverage before loading pipe.
- Set up and square the clamps for the fitting type; close the clamps dry and verify the hydraulic circuit holds without drift.
- Load the pipe and fitting with the crane, bring the ends together and tighten the clamps; verify concentricity and axial alignment before planing.
- Plane both faces until a continuous chip forms evenly on each side.
- Set the plate temperature and allow the face to stabilise fully, then re-verify the surface reading with the pipe in position.
- Bring the ends onto the plate at the calculated pressure and hold for the soaking time on the 710-1200mm parameter table.
- Pivot the plate out, join the ends within the change-over time and apply the fusion pressure.
- Maintain pressure for the cooling time on the parameter table, re-checking clamp pressure at the mid-point of the cool; alarm sounds at the end of the phase.
Common Faults & Solutions
| Common faults | Reasons | Solutions |
|---|---|---|
| Oval or misaligned joint on heavy fittings | Clamp pressure drifting during the long cool | Re-check and top up clamp pressure at the mid-point of the cooling phase; service the accumulator |
| Cold or weak joint | Soaking time or pressure below the 710-1200mm parameter table | Use the correct parameter table; verify gauge reading on the plate-side gauge |
| Hydraulic pressure will not hold | Accumulator pre-charge lost, or internal leak under continuous load | Check accumulator pre-charge and service seals; do not start a cycle at reduced pressure |
| Plate face temperature drops in mid-cycle | Ends not flat after planing, increasing contact area and heat draw | Re-plane and confirm flatness before each cycle |
| Fitting shifts or rolls during fitting-up | Insufficient clamp force or an incorrect insert set for the diameter | Confirm the insert set and re-tighten the clamps in sequence |
| Planing tool does not start | Safety limit switch not engaged | Place the planing tool in the frame to release the switch |
FAQ
Q: Can this machine fabricate HDPE elbows?
A: Yes. The machine can be configured for fabrication of HDPE elbows at different angles. Please provide the required pipe diameter, SDR and fitting angle for machine selection.
Q: Can it produce HDPE tees?
A: Yes. With the corresponding clamps, the machine can be used for workshop fabrication of HDPE tees across the 710-1200mm range.
Q: Can it make Y fittings?
A: Yes. Both 45° and 60° Y fittings are supported with the correct clamping configuration.
Q: What is the maximum pipe size on the 1200 model?
A: The welding range of the 1200 model is 710-1200mm. The maximum size that can actually be fabricated depends on the fitting type — contact us and we will confirm it for your specific fitting type and angle.
Q: What power supply does the 1200mm machine need?
A: 380V, 50/60Hz, three-phase, 73.5kW total: 62kW heating plate, 4kW planing tool and 7.5kW hydraulic unit. A dedicated supply and switchgear should be designed before delivery.
Q: Why is the hydraulic unit so much larger on this model?
A: Because at 1200mm the clamps must hold and repeatedly correct a very heavy fitting through a long cooling phase. A drifting clamp produces an oval or misaligned joint that cannot be re-worked, so the hydraulic capacity is the critical specification.
Q: Does the clamp pressure stay constant during cooling?
A: The hydraulic circuit uses an accumulator for continuous replenishment, which maintains clamp pressure through the cooling phase rather than allowing it to relax.
Q: How much does the 1200mm machine weigh?
A: 17,000kg. It is installed as a fixed cell on a poured or steel foundation with crane coverage.
Q: Does it record welding data?
A: Yes. The control panel has a built-in printer for welding parameter records and a USB port for data export, which allows each 1200mm joint to be documented for the project file.
Q: What welding temperature is used?
A: The heating plate is adjustable from 0-300°C with ±5°C surface deviation. Heating and cooling times come from the welding parameter table supplied with the machine, based on diameter, SDR and wall thickness.
Q: What information is required to select a machine?
A: Pipe material (PE / PP / PVDF), pipe outside diameter, SDR or wall thickness, fitting type, required angle, power supply, and required production capacity. For a machine of this size, please also send the site plan and the lifting capacity available.
Q: Can the clamping configuration be customized?
A: Yes. Customized clamping solutions and OEM branding are available for the specific fitting types and angles you produce.
