The SUNTECHMACH SHG630 is where the SHG range steps up to trunk-line work: it fabricates PE, PP, PVDF and PVDF-lined fittings from 355mm to 630mm — 0-90° elbows, equal tees, equal crosses and 45°/60° Y-pieces. Two things change at this size. The working pressure goes up from 0-10 MPa to 0-16 MPa, so the machine can develop the interfacial pressure needed once wall thickness and diameter both grow, and the heating plate jumps from 8 KW to 22 KW, which is what keeps the plate face recovery fast enough to hold a stable temperature across a 630mm joint instead of sagging when the cold pipe lands on it. Total connected load is 28 KW on 380V, so this model normally means planning the workshop supply and a fixed bay with lifting gear rather than moving the machine between jobs. The PTFE-coated plate, 0-300°C independent control, ±5°C surface deviation, safety limit switch on the planing tool and the separate two-channel timer are all carried over unchanged.
| THE PROBLEM | HOW WE SOLVED IT |
|---|---|
| Trunk-line fittings carry real pressure and cannot be under-welded | 0-16 MPa working pressure class — a step above the 0-10 MPa entry models |
| The plate face drops in temperature when cold 630mm pipe lands on it | 22 KW heating plate keeps face recovery fast enough for a stable joint |
| Trunk fittings are often on the critical path of the programme | Fabricate on site instead of waiting weeks for bought-in 355-630mm fittings |
| Interfacial pressure is hard to repeat by hand on thick walls | Hydraulic unit with accumulator gives repeatable pressure through soak and cool |
| Fittings must satisfy the project specification | Fabricated fittings for systems specified to ISO 4427-3 / EN 12201-3 / EN 1555 / ISO 15494 |
| Scrap on a 630mm joint is expensive | Electric planing tool with safety limit switch plus a two-channel timer to enforce the cycle |
| Cured-in fittings have to be lifted and turned during fitting-up | Pivoting heating plate and planing tool make loading and removal practical at this weight |
Key Features
- 1. 0-16 MPa Pressure Class — The first SHG model with the higher working-pressure range needed for thick-wall trunk fittings.
- 2. 22 KW Heating Plate — Fast face recovery so the plate temperature stays inside the ±5°C window during a 630mm joint.
- 3. 355-630mm Coverage — Covers trunk and sub-main sizes in one machine.
- 4. 28 KW on 380V — Plan the workshop supply and a fixed bay; the load is no longer a plug-in-and-go figure.
- 5. 3850 kg Fixed Installation — Sits on a dedicated bay with lifting gear for pipe and fitting handling.
- 6. Pivoting Plate and Planer — Solves the practical problem of loading a 630mm fitting into a hot machine.
- 7. Imported Teflon Coating, 0-300°C — Removable PTFE-coated plate with independent temperature control.
- 8. Two-Channel Timer — Separate soaking and cooling counts, with an alarm at the end of each phase.

Operation Guide
- Set up the clamps for the fitting type and check the clamp faces are parallel and square to the frame.
- Load the pipe and fitting with lifting gear, bring the ends together and tighten the clamps; verify concentricity before planing.
- Plane both faces until a continuous chip forms on each side.
- Set the heating plate temperature and wait for the face to stabilise — check the surface reading, not just the set point.
- Bring the ends against the plate at the calculated pressure and hold for the soaking time on the parameter table.
- Pivot the plate out, join the ends within the change-over time and apply the fusion pressure.
- Hold the fusion pressure for the cooling time on the parameter table; the timer alarms at the end of the phase.
- Release the pressure, open the clamps and lift the fitting out with the crane; inspect the bead all round.
Common Faults & Solutions
| Common faults | Reasons | Solutions |
|---|---|---|
| Cold or weak joint on thick wall | Soaking time or fusion pressure below the 0-16 MPa parameter table | Use the 630mm parameter table specifically; verify actual pressure on the gauge, not the set value |
| Plate face temperature sags during welding | Plate approaching the limits of its heat recovery, or ends not planed flat | Confirm both faces are fully planed and re-check the surface temperature before welding |
| Uneven fusion bead all round | Ends not concentric, or clamps loaded with the wrong insert set | Re-plane and re-check alignment; confirm the 355-630mm insert set is fitted |
| Fitting moves during the cooling phase | Clamp bolts not retightened after the pipe warmed | Re-tighten the clamp bolts in sequence before starting the cycle |
| Hydraulic pressure drops | Leak in the circuit, or no replenishment | Check the hydraulic unit and accumulator; replace damaged seals |
| Planing tool does not start | Safety limit switch not engaged | Place the planing tool in the frame to release the switch |
FAQ
Q: Can this machine fabricate HDPE elbows?
A: Yes. The machine can be configured for fabrication of HDPE elbows at different angles. Please provide the required pipe diameter, SDR and fitting angle for machine selection.
Q: Can it produce HDPE tees?
A: Yes. With the corresponding clamps, the machine can be used for workshop fabrication of HDPE tees across the 355-630mm range.
Q: Can it make Y fittings?
A: Yes. The machine is designed for fabrication of Y-type fittings: both 45° and 60° Y fittings are supported with the corresponding clamping configuration.
Q: What is the maximum pipe size on the 630 model?
A: The welding range of the 630 model is 355-630mm. The maximum size that can actually be fabricated depends on the fitting type (elbow, tee, cross or Y) — contact us and we will confirm it for your specific fitting type and angle.
Q: What power supply does the 630mm machine need?
A: 380V, 50/60Hz, three-phase, 28kW total connected load: 22kW heating plate, 3kW planing tool and 3kW hydraulic unit. The supply should be planned before delivery.
Q: Why does the working pressure change to 0-16MPa at this size?
A: Because the interfacial pressure needed for a sound joint rises with both diameter and wall thickness. The 630 model is the first size in the range with the higher-pressure hydraulic class.
Q: How much does the 630mm machine weigh?
A: 3850kg. It is installed as a fixed bay and requires lifting gear for pipe and fitting handling.
Q: Does it record welding data?
A: Yes. The control panel includes a built-in printer for welding parameter records and a USB port for data export, so large-diameter joints can be documented for the project file.
Q: What welding temperature is used on a 630mm joint?
A: The heating plate is adjustable from 0-300°C with ±5°C surface deviation. Heating and cooling times come from the welding parameter table supplied with the machine, based on diameter, SDR and wall thickness.
Q: How many operators does it need?
A: We recommend two operators plus a small crane or jib for loading 355-630mm pipe and fittings.
Q: What information is required to select a machine?
A: Pipe material (PE / PP / PVDF), pipe outside diameter, SDR or wall thickness, fitting type, required angle, power supply, and required production capacity.
Q: Can the clamping configuration be customized?
A: Yes. Customized clamping solutions and OEM branding are available, including configurations for the specific fitting types and angles you produce.
