Operation Guide
- A. Pre-Weld Checks
- Verify the pressure gauge, timer and temperature controller function correctly before welding.
- Check the heating plate Teflon coating integrity; verify it reaches the set temperature.
- Check the trimmer works properly and the blades are sharp enough to face the pipe end evenly.
- Perform a test welding before production.
- B. 6-Phase Welding Procedure (per ISO 21307 / DVS 2207)
- Phase 1 - Bead-up: approach both pipe ends to the heating plate at (P1 + Pt) pressure until the bead reaches the expected size.
- Phase 2 - Soaking: reduce to maximum P2 pressure, keep the ends in touch with the heating plate for the full t2 time. The ends MUST NOT detach from the plate, otherwise the weld must be repeated.
- Phase 3 - Plate removal: remove the heating plate within the maximum t3 (changeover) time without damaging the beads.
- Phase 4 - Reach welding pressure: bring the ends together, gradually increasing pressure to (P5 + Pt) within t4.
- Phase 5 - Welding: keep the ends together at (P5 + Pt) for the full t5 time.
- Phase 6 - Cooling: keep the joint under pressure for t6; do not remove or strain the joint. Do NOT use water or compressed air to rush cooling.
- P1 = bead-up pressure; P2 = max soaking pressure; P5 = welding pressure; Pt = dragging pressure (read from the gauge with pipes clamped; add to all pressure values).
- C.Safety Notes
- Earth the machine; the plug must meet IEC 309 type, IP44 minimum protection. Do not expose the machine to rain or liquids.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves; keep a safe distance from the working trimmer and the hot heating plate.
- Keep flammable material away from the heating plate and its support.
- Unplug the machine from the power source immediately after use.
| Standard | Material | Heating Temp | Key Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| DVS 2207-1:2016 | HDPE | 220 ± 10°C | Max en = 130mm |
| ISO 21307:2017 (single high pressure) | HDPE | 215 ± 15°C | Heater removal time approx. 5-12s |
| ISO 21307:2017 (single low pressure) | HDPE | 225 ± 10°C | Longer cool time under pressure |
| DVS 2207-11:2017 | PP | 210 ± 10°C | Max en = 70mm; buildup time by ambient temp (≤15°C / 15-25°C / 25-40°C) |
Common Faults & Solutions
| Common faults | Reasons | Solutions |
|---|---|---|
| Narrow or falling bead on the joint | Welding pressure too high | Reduce pressure to the chart value (P5 + Pt) |
| Too small bead | Pressure not enough while welding | Increase to the chart welding pressure |
| Ditch in the joint | Temperature not reached, or changeover time too long | Reheat to full temperature; remove plate within t3 |
| Misaligned joint | Alignment exceeds 10% of wall thickness | Re-align the two ends before welding |
| Pump motor does not work | Power not connected; loose socket; electrical fault | Check power, sockets, micro-switch and solid relay |
| Motor runs slowly with abnormal noise | Motor overloaded; oil filter blocked; unstable voltage | Check oil filter; confirm working pressure below rated; check voltage |
| Oil leakage | Worn hoses; loose/worn quick couplings; seal not fitted | Replace hoses; tighten or replace connectors; restore oil seal |
| Lack of pressure | Oil level low; relief valve open/out of order; blocked coupling; air in system | Top up oil; close or replace relief valve; purge air 30s via direction lever |
| Carriage trembling when moving | Air in hydraulic cylinders | Move the carriage back and forward via the direction lever to eliminate air |
| Heating plate cannot heat / display HH | Sensor or wiring disconnected; solid relay or controller failure | Check sensor and cable connections; replace solid relay or temperature controller |
| Trimmer cannot face with continuous chips | Blunt blade; blade lower than plate | Replace or shim the blade |
